In near-future Los Angeles, a mysterious virus outbreak sends the city into chaos.
Jack, a 29-year-old delivery rider, rescues a twelve-year-old girl named Maya and uses his intimate knowledge of the city to guide a group of survivors to safety. Once invisible and insignificant, Jack gradually becomes the man everyone depends on.
But Jack soon discovers that the infected are strangely drawn to him — and that he is infected too. As the truth unfolds, he learns that the infected are not completely gone. Their memories and consciousness are forming a massive shared neural network, with Jack occupying a unique place within it.
As humans begin to fear him and powerful forces try to use him, Jack faces the ultimate question:
If my body, memories, and consciousness are changing, am I still me?
In the end, Jack puts on his battered yellow delivery bag and walks alone into thousands of infected to begin The Last Delivery.
