As a devastating flood engulfs their house, Emily struggles to keep her young daughter Zoe alive. Her brother Daniel chooses to evacuate Sophia, a friend unable to swim, and assures Emily that another rescue will return. It never does. After Emily dies protecting Zoe, cruel assumptions and Daniel's devotion to Sophia deny the child the care she needs, turning a rescue failure into an unbearable loss.
