Under a crimson moon, Gabriel, heir to a vampire council, is manipulated by Freya into ordering the death of his infant child, Calista, to protect his rule. Vivian saves her baby through a sacrifice of her own blood, only to spend two decades in chains. Sheltered by Damian of the Night Alliance, Calista discovers she carries the ancient first vampire's power. Back in New York, she frees Vivian, brings Gabriel's dynasty to justice, and survives assaults from wolves, dark sorceresses, and the impostor Aurelia. Crowned the rightful ruler, Calista ends bloodline tyranny and reunites her family.
