Cora took in three wounded wolves and raised them. The moment her sister Vivian appeared, the wolves couldn't look away—they turned cold and rough, trying to break Cora. She overheard them mocking her. So she offered a trade: three wolves for Vivian's snake. Silas the snake was ice-cold, yet he stayed—doing chores, guarding her. When her family forced an arranged marriage, Cora faked agreement, then fled through a window on her wedding day. Silas tracked her to the airport, injuring two wolves who tried to stop him. “You'll never get rid of me,” he said. Cora took over the family business and bonded with Silas. The cold snake was truer than any wolf.
