Claire, a top scholar from a poor background, shows up in her wedding dress — only to discover that her childhood sweetheart Ethan's proposal was nothing but a humiliating bet. He and Vanessa believe Claire can never leave him. They frame her mother, kidnap her, and abuse her. Heartbroken, Claire marries a stranger on the spot — Adrian, a man everyone mocks as a penniless blue-collar worker. What she doesn't know: Adrian is the president of Cross Capital, the man who controls the city's entire economy. When Adrian's convoy storms in to rescue his wife, and the head of the Sinclair family recognizes the Cross president at the hospital, Ethan and Vanessa's illusion of power shatters completely. The girl they threw away like dirt is someone else's most precious treasure.
