Vivienne claims a golden pregnancy, but Seraphina learns the truth: Vivienne's child is a serpent prince's. At the Blood Rite, Vivienne's golden egg hatches a snake. Adrian's sterility is exposed. Enraged, he attacks Seraphina's eggs. She awakens them with her golden blood, and nine pure gold dragons shatter their shells. Divine lightning strikes Adrian down.
