In her first life, Cecily’s husband Andrew faked his death to run away with his mistress, Denise, leaving Cecily buried in gambling debt. After years of grueling work, his mother, Miranda, sold her to a remote village, where she was tortured to death. Now reborn on the day Andrew supposedly dies, Cecily knows he’s only under anesthesia. This time, she calls the police to stop Miranda from dragging her away—and uses Denise’s fake death certificate to send Andrew straight into the cremation furnace. As his lies turn to ashes, Cecily refuses his debts, fights to reclaim her stolen fortune, and publicly challenges Denise’s claim that her unborn baby is Andrew’s. With their scheme unraveling, Miranda and Denise turn on each other with deadly consequences. Revenge complete, Cecily quits her job and heads to Iceland, finally free to live for herself.
