Lily Hayes was taken in by the Sinclair family after her mother's death, only to fall in love in her loneliness with her nominal stepfather, Victor Sinclair. To protect Lily from the dangerous Cross family, Victor ruthlessly pushed her into an arranged marriage with the Reid family, letting her believe she was nothing more than his plaything and a bargaining chip. Humiliated, manipulated, and dragged into the schemes of powerful families, Lily finally resolved to escape. Yet every time she found herself in danger, Victor could no longer suppress his love — he tore up the marriage contract with his own hands, exposed every hidden truth, and declared to the world: she was never a forbidden temptation, but the only woman he would ever call his wife.
