As the undead overrun the city, gifted architect Evelyn Hart delivers baby Lily just as a final child priority transport prepares to leave. Her unfaithful husband Noah and Serena, the friend who betrayed her, steal the infant, falsify Lily's identification, and abandon Evelyn while she is bleeding badly. A mysterious serum from Commander Cole keeps her alive long enough to reach the terminal before departure. Serena claims Evelyn's place, while Noah hides behind a stolen officer's uniform and labels the real mother a dangerous infected intruder. But Evelyn has a secret advantage. She designed Life Cradle, the vast survival complex surrounding them. With her knowledge of its systems, she restores vital utilities, seals the escape route during a brutal storm, and uncovers their deception through concealed plans and proof from the past. Racing against death to save her child, Evelyn must survive until Cole returns, establish Lily's true parentage, and make her betrayers face the monsters they unleashed.
