During Harrington University's freshman awards event, Lily is horrified when private messages with star quarterback Ethan appear before the entire audience. The texts make her seem like she is using him for money and a place to sleep, giving student leader Madison the perfect excuse to denounce her as a shameless opportunist. No one knows Ethan is actually Lily's uncle on her mother's side. He insisted their family connection remain secret because he hated being called uncle while still a student himself. Now he is away at an important game and cannot be reached, leaving Lily to endure cruel gossip and Madison's public accusations until Ethan can finally return and reveal the truth.
